The Lesbian and Gay Foundation - News

The Lesbian and Gay Foundation - News: "LGV is a sexually transmitted infection caused by a certain type of Chlamydia bacteria. It started to spread among gay men; so sexually active gay and bisexual men and those affected by HIV need to look out for it.

Dr Lorraine Lighton, Sexual Health Lead and Consultant in Communicable Disease Control at Health Protection Agency North West said: “Recently there have been anecdotal reports in the Greater Manchester area of cases of LGV where diagnosis and appropriate treatment was delayed because clinicians had not initially included LGV in the differential diagnosis. This can have significant long term implications for the patient.”"
